(57) Abstract

I’m Ved, a software engineer in Ahmedabad. I study computer engineering at U.V. Patel College of Engineering and run SNOWBROS, a small software studio. I ship systems end to end, from the schema and its access rules to the native binary and the pipeline that releases it. I like software that can explain itself: a balance you can trace, a finding that shows its evidence, a till that never loses a paisa.

What is claimed is:

  1. 1.

Software whose output is a pure function of its input. Same code in, same result out.

    See100

  2. 2.

The practice of claim 1, wherein money is an integer, never a float, from the database to the receipt.

    See200300

  3. 3.

The practice of claim 1, wherein the database decides and every client only displays what it decided.

    See200

  4. 4.

A finding is reported only with the evidence that proves it. What cannot be proven is labelled unresolved.

    See100

  5. 5.

An interface that respects the keyboard as much as the pointer.

    See300600

  6. 6.

Shipping is the start: CI on every push, releases a person approves, and apps that update themselves.

    See200100

  7. 7.

The practice of claim 5, wherein the visual design is part of the specification, not a coat of paint.
